Buckle Up!
We all have some sort of routine. Most people like routines. We like the predictability of them and don’t like it when they are interrupted or disrupted. However, our routines and habits have a tendency to lull us into a somewhat false sense of security.
What happens when those routines are suddenly shattered by unforeseen events? Something we didn’t see coming and, to be honest, don’t have much, if any, control over. An unexpected or unforeseen event can also be called…a surprise!
Life is full of surprises. A new job…or loss of one. A baby…so welcome in so many homes yet, tragically, an unwanted nuisance in others. The rise and fall of the economy. The back and forth of the geopolitical scene. The general uncertainty and foreboding feeling of the times in which we live.
Life’s surprises can be good surprises or they can totally throw us off balance. They can take unexpected twists and turns and momentarily knock us off track. Even if we confess to know Christ, we are not immune to the effects of what happens to or around us.
But we have HOPE!
When life takes on a dizzying speed and seems to corkscrew out of control, THAT is the time to hold on even tighter! Hold on…because the Promise Maker is faithful!
“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:23 (ESV)
